Carol 17th April 2021

We really don’t appreciate our mum until we become one ourselves or she’s no longer there. She was self sacrificing when money was short and times were hard, often going without herself to ensure that we were fed and clothed. Many times mum gave her dinner to an unexpected guest. Our mum was house proud and worked tirelessly to keep the house spotlessly clean, you’d never have guessed there were six children living there. She also worked part time progressing to full time when we were all at school. How she must have dreaded the deflating words that greeted her each evening when she walked through the door, “what’s for dinner mum?” I’m glad that life got easier and more enjoyable for her as we all flew the nest, albeit returning every so often when we had a crisis in our life. Mum could be relied upon to support us through it. We felt her love through her actions more than glib words. Sometimes We find ourselves sounding like our mum, and in those times we can appreciate that she lives on through us. Never far from our thoughts. ❤️
